for being with us. i'm marla tellez. >> i'm jon kelley. it is an active scene at the apple valley farms in fresno on hedges road. not far from black stone avenue. black stone is closed off there. it will be most of the day while the officers try to piece together what happened. >> police say in all four people were shot and one person is dead. two are in critical condition and one is in serious condition. they are naming the suspect as 42-year-old lawrence jones, an employee at apple valley farms. they say a little after 8:00 this morning, he was working near the cold storage area in the plant when he pulled out a handgun and opened fire. police say 30 people witnessed the shooting. more than 60 were in the building at the time. they say jones later shot himself in the head outside of the plant and he is still alive. as for a motive, police will spend the day talking to everyone to find out what may have set him off. we are having trouble with the sound on the tape. that is the chief of police in fresno. witnesses tell police that jones had not been himself in the past few days. again,

about 8:00 last night. this is what our sources are telling us. the man has a southern california address. he tried to board a southwest flight to los angeles. he was going through the checkpoint here when tsa inspectors noticed suspicious items in the bin where he put his carry-on bag. they found components of an ide. an improvised explosive device, a watch with wires, fuses and a toggle switch. all the components were there except for the explosives. they then look at his boots and he suffered layers into his boots just like the shoe bomber richard reid had done. they notified sheriff's deputies who took him into custody. they examined the material. the f.b.i. was notified. sheriff's office tells us the manlaims it was an art, a piece of art. we are still trying to find more details about this story but that the very latest here from oakland international airport. >> cheryl: at san francisco international airport there were weather flight delays. there were delays on flights arriving this morning from the northwest where the weather is already wetter. >> kristen: we're not dryin

avoid the beach today. katie marzullo, abc7 news. >>> eric thomas joins us from sfo where we just got new numbers on the scope of flight cancellations and delays. >> reporter: the wind is picking up out here so far it hasn't been to the 50 or 60 mile hour they feared. they thought that would cause delays of up to 226 minutes. we have some delays, but we have many more cancellations. in fact, sfo says more than 60 flights have been cancelled, due to the storm most short haul flights up and didn't the west coast. pictures of those boards showing cancellations here. fresno, santa barbara and boise, that's where with the flights have been cancelled. they will be combined with other flights so passengers will get to where they are going. only about fewer than a half dozen flight delays most of them in the 15 to 30 minute range not the 226 minute range that the faa first projected. what we are hearing is maybe later this afternoon as things begin to build, sfo could say delays of up to an hour maybe two hours. the advice is the same as it always is, call ahead to your airline, find out what
